Job Description

The Technician will be responsible for sample handling, sample preparation, method development, performing analyses, problem solving, and customer service. The work consists of physical and mechanical testing, such as scratch testing, abrasion testing, durability testing, drop testing, and other methods to damage and degrade physical parts, with an emphasis on documentation throughout the process and documentation of materials using techniques such as scratch testing, durability testing, drop testing and other methods. This is followed by documentation of test results using various optical/spectroscopy techniques, photography, and video. There may also be lab work involving chemicals and chemical testing.
The job will include working in a team and collaborating with other EAG groups in Sunnyvale, Santa Clara, and St Louis. It will involve very close cooperation with customers and excellent attention to detail is required. Good record keeping and the ability to follow work instructions will be essential. An aptitude for mechanical problem solving and the ability to address challenges in real time is a requirement. A comfort level with unexpected or unusual scenarios would be very helpful, along with a strong sense of ownership of your work.
Responsibilities:
  • Sample handling, preparation and mounting samples for analysis.
  • Method development and troubleshooting.
  • Performs physical, mechanical, and chemical testing.
  • Documents results and prepares reports on analytical results for customers.
  • Regular and timely internal and external communication of results.

Qualifications

  • AS or BS degree in Chemistry, Physics, Engineering or Materials Science.
  • Prior experience in following standard operating procedures.
  • Experience in handling samples and materials in a controlled lab environment.
  • Must be able to communicate (verbal and written) effectively with team members to discuss and clarify analytical goals, as well as resolve potential issues.
  • Visual acuity and manual dexterity required.
  • Ability to stand, lift, carry and bend while working in the lab.

Additional Information

Compensation Range: $28.00 - $36.00
