PBS Distribution (PBSd) is a leading distributor of public media content around the world from producers whose stories make a difference, reaching audiences through multiple platforms and formats including six digital subscription channels on Amazon Prime Video Channels, Advertising on Demand, Digital Download, Licensing, Physical Goods, theatrical runs, international linear channels, and program sales while generating revenue for the public media system.

 

 

The Production Operations Intern will gain a foundational knowledge of how the Content Operations Department functions within PBSd to achieve and exceed company goals. This person will gain an understanding of various media distribution platforms and how they drive growth for the business. This person will be exposed to all aspects of the Media Supply Chain, with an emphasis on assets management processes and procedures, and learn aspects of metadata, and video delivery. This person will gain an understanding of the operations behind PBSd’s video distribution business, various partners, and platforms. This person will learn to navigate internal processes to gain efficiencies on everyday creative needs and how connecting the dots helps to drive success for production operations and PBSd overall.

 

 

·      Gain familiarity with the structure and workflows of our production operations system.

·      Assist in locating, organizing, cataloging, and then researching and recommending a long-term solution for legacy assets storage.

·      Support the library management process.

·      Assist with video archiving and associated data and systems preparation.

·      Metadata creation and video delivery.

·      Participate in special projects to ensure our content is optimized in the marketplace.

·      Other projects as determined by Manager.

·      Media Studies, Library Science, or Museum Studies major

·      Rising Junior or Senior (Undergraduate)

·      Detail-oriented with excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

·      Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks.

·      Skilled in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook

 

PBS Distribution is headquartered in Arlington, VA with an additional office in Boston, MA. The Production Operations Intern may be located in either Arlington, VA or Boston, MA.
