Human Resources Summer 2023 Intern

Your role in helping us shape the future:
U.S. News & World Report is looking for a full time, paid, summer Human Resources Intern. You’ll have the opportunity to work with a passionate team of HR professionals, learn from talented coworkers, and drive Human Resources’ initiatives.
Are you up to the challenge?
1. Assist recruiter with sourcing applicants for various roles.
2. Schedule and conduct phone screens and reference checks for potential new hires.
3. Post, update and remove job postings from job boards, careers pages, social networks and the applicant tracking system (Paychex).
4. Support the 2023 summer internship program; act as the point of contact for the summer cohort group.
5. Generate reports from various HR systems (performance management, applicant tracking system, human resources information systems, reporting metrics).
6. Assist with onboarding new hires; welcome letter and schedule new hire orientation sessions.
7. Participate in the implementation of various HR programs.
8. Create any flyers needed for various positions.
9. Assist with conducting research for the following : career fairs, diverse job websites, etc.


POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Qualifications:
Eligible candidates must be one of the following:
  • Part-time or full-time students who have completed 48+ credit hours (rising juniors/seniors and graduate students) and are enrolled in an undergraduate program at an accredited college or university
  • Part-time or full-time students enrolled in a graduate program at an accredited college or university
Ability to exercise sound judgment, professionalism and maturity in the workplace
Effective communicator in both written and spoken English
Good oral and written communication skills
Proficiency in use of MSOffice Suite and Google Docs
3.0 GPA or above preferred
Preferred Qualifications
1. Interest in human resources; preferably recruitment.
2. Proficient in Microsoft Office Products: Word, Excel, PowerPoint; and Google Products: Drive, Docs, Sheets.
3. Agility with learning how to navigate on-line HR systems.
Summer Intern Program Description:
  • 10 weeks; ideally, starting on Monday, June 5, 2023 through Friday, August 11, 2023.
  • We expect interns to work 37.5 hours/week, Monday- Friday
  • Internship pays $16.10 an hour.
