Campcraft Head Counselor
Be part of something extraordinary! Camp Sewataro is seeking an energetic, passionate and dedicated educator who loves working with children ages 6-14, and is an outdoors aficionado as our Campcraft activity Head Counselor.
The Sewataro Campcraft program focuses on the art of outdoor camping. At Campcraft, campers learn how to safely enjoy the outdoors and camping through activities like fire-building & campfire cooking, GPS & orienteering, knot tying and lashing, rope making, setting up a campsite, shelter building, stalking/tracking/trailing and learning Leave No Trace™ principles and basic wilderness first aid procedures.
- The majority of Activity Counselors are certified teachers. Activity Counselors follow three simple precepts: play safe, make it fun, and teach the skills. *The salary for certified teachers would be $5785
- Activity counselors submit a syllabus/plan to our Program Supervisor for the eight weeks of camp based on your weekly schedule. Plans should teach skills, be fun, age-appropriate and flexible to diverse experience, needs and abilities. Counselors should work to develop alternative plans for inclement weather.
- Activity Counselors are also assigned to a group. During morning arrival, lunch, and at the end of the day, the Activity Counselor joins their group and works with the Group Leader in providing support for the campers.
Camp Season: June 26 - August 18, 2023, with pre-camp training days
Hours: 8:00 AM – 4:15 PM; Monday - Friday
*Camp will be closed Tuesday, July 4th*
