Natural Resource Specialist/Fish Biologist
As a Natural Resource Specialist/Fish Biologist, you will perform the following duties:
- Promote the conservation of marine resources and protected species and their habitat by interpreting and analyzing fishery policies, issues, and regulation, ensuring adherence to Federal statutes such as the Endangered Species Act (ESA), the Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Act (MSA), the Marine Mammal Protection Act (MMPA), the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and other applicable natural resource management/environmental regulations or statutes.
- Use a general understanding of the regulatory laws, fish, marine mammal and/or other protected species biology, and aquatic habitat requirements to perform various technical consultations and issue permits with federal agencies.
- Collaborate with external Federal, State, and local agencies and tribes in the management and/or recovery of identified NOAA trust species and develop partnerships to promote protected species conservation programs.
