Research and Development Intern - 2023 Summer Program

The Role


As we continue to grow as QuidelOrtho, we are seeking a Research and Development Intern for the 2023 Summer Program who will work in a dynamic, cross-functional team to develop a research ELISA. This position is located in San Diego, CA.


The Responsibilities


  • Make buffers, pipette, work with biological reagents, learn lab instrumentation, do calculations, interpret data, present results.
  • Additional lab support as needed, ie. inventory, instrument maintenance, ordering supplies, aliquoting, etc.
  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned.


The Job Deliverables


  • The intern will complete a report summarizing the project, and/or PowerPoint presentation to document all work done in R&D.
  • The intern will present a PowerPoint presentation on his/her work to a cross-functional group.


The Individual


Required:
  • 4th year undergraduate or graduate student in life science, ie. chemistry, biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, etc.
  • Minimum GPA: 3.2.
  • Ability to accept employment without sponsorship.
  • Experience with pipetting, basic math and units conversion.
  • School lab experience and a basic familiarity with laboratory terms and techniques.
  • Interns should be prepared to fully commit to the start and end dates of on or about May 22 through August 18, 2023.
  • Interns are expected to provide their own housing, travel, and any other requirements necessary for their participation in this program.

Preferred:
  • Previous experience working in a lab developing basic skills ie. buffer formulation, simple calculations, participation in planning and executing experiments.
  • 1 quarter/semester wet lab research.

The pay range for the Internship Program is between $16/hour to $30/hour. The Pay rate will be determined by the year in school, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the candidate. Benefits are not included for this position.
