Communications Intern

Since 1985, CCAP has been a recognized world leader in climate and air quality policy, helping policymakers around the world develop, promote, and implement innovative, market-based solutions to major climate, air quality and energy problems that balance both environmental and economic interests. CCAP is a collegial, non-hierarchical organization known for its emphasis on cutting edge analyses, productive policy dialogues, and on-the-ground delivery of transformative policy programs and projects. 
 
Position Description:
The Communications Intern will support CCAP’s strategic communications plan and help develop and implement compelling content to be used across all CCAP platforms to promote ongoing organizational activities and initiatives that distinguish CCAP from other think tanks. The Intern will report to and assist the Communications Officer in operating CCAP’s digital platforms, including the website and social media accounts, while supporting the organization’s campaigns. This is a full-time, remote-based paid 8-12-week internship available for summer 2023. For qualifying candidates, this position can count towards credits for a college course.
 
Responsibilities include:
·       Assist in the creation of video, print and digital content for the CCAP website, social media, and emails.
·       Publish content across CCAP’s social media platforms and website.
·       Help write and edit publication materials, including blogs, news releases, reports, email correspondences, videos, and fact sheets among other digital and print publications.
·       Assist in the organization of modern and archived communication materials within the CCAP shared drive.
·       Work with the Communications Officer and other CCAP staff members to cultivate new and innovative content ideas.
·       Support the promotion of CCAP’s involvement in events and other activities.
·       Support annual CCAP fundraising activities.
·       Help run regular website and content analytics/reports.
 
Qualifications:
·       Current student from a program in communications, journalism, media studies, public policy, public relations economics, environmental science or related field
·       Proven experience in successfully operating social media accounts
·       Knowledge of internal and external communications processes
·       Strong interest in career development within the strategic communications field
·       Experience creating multi-media content to be used for print and digital platforms
·       A strong interest in climate change and environmental issues
·       Strong oral and written communication skills
·       Strong organizational skills
·       Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite programs
·       Excellent research and writing skills required

Preferred Qualifications:
 
·       Prior experience working in a communications office
·       Past experience working within a non-profit environment
·       Videography experience
·       Experience in website editing, content management, and copywriting
·       Past experience with Google, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter analytics
·       Graphic design experience and familiarity with Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, or other Adobe programs and/or Canva
·       Photography and photo editing experience
·       Coursework or experience in environmental, climate, and public policy
·       Prior experience in an established communications, media relations, or similar role
·       Fluency in Spanish is a plus
