Description

Aceso Global (www.acesoglobal.org) is a Washington, D.C. nonprofit that provides strategic healthcare advisory services to strengthen healthcare systems and achieve affordable, high quality healthcare in low- and middle-income countries. Aceso Global undertakes research, analysis and data collection to drive learning and collaboration across the global health community. We advise governments, insurers, private equity firms, foundations and nonprofits in diagnosing problems, devising solutions and creating value in hospital and healthcare networks; our work informs policymaking, healthcare investments and front-line integrated care improvements.

We are looking for an intern to work with us for 8–10 weeks (dates to be determined upon acceptance) in summer 2023, to help with Aceso Global’s research, communications and administrative work. This is an excellent opportunity with a nimble and dynamic organization that has high-profile international clients and conducts substantive, impactful health sector work. The intern will work with and learn from leaders in global health, and will have the unique opportunity to take on a variety of meaningful responsibilities. Aceso Global seeks students who want to be international health problem solvers and are eager to work in an innovative environment with significant social impact.

Students should expect to, by the end of this internship, possess improved research skills, an increased knowledge of unique and exciting new developments in global health, as well as familiarity with technical terms and methodologies used in international health and experience in the operation of a nonprofit organization.


Responsibilities

Responsibilities under this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Research. Support organizational research needs, such as funding opportunities, events, partners, etc. and technical research needs, such as health/hospital financing, management, quality, Pay for performance (P4P), Public-private partnerships (PPPs) etc.; and assist in writing papers and presentation development
  • Knowledge management. Review existing Aceso Global content and materials
  • Website and social media support. Assist with any reviews, management and additions to the website in terms of posting knowledge products, and assist with Aceso Global social media
  • Thought leadership communication. Support in design and preparation of presentations to communicate Aceso Global’s mission to key stakeholders and clients


Requirements

Aceso Global is looking for a rising senior or junior with an interest in international development and global health. Any evidence of academic interest in international development should also be highlighted on the resume. Applicants should be familiar with economics.

Additionally, the candidate should possess:
  • Good interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Flexibility, sense of humor, and ability to work in a team environment, including independent work
  • Poise, confidence, and outstanding organization and time management skills, with an attention to detail
  • Proficiency in written English usage, grammar, and punctuation
  • Experience with Microsoft Office
