STAT IIS Leadership Workshop Intern

The Public Health Informatics Institute (PHII) is a program of the Task Force for Global Health, a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization. Our staff is composed of professionals in the areas of public health, healthcare, information systems and communications-all well-versed in the current and emerging issues facing public health. The Institute is known for its expertise as a neutral convener of public health professionals and stakeholders. PHII uses data to advance health outcomes worldwide by guiding public health organizations to effectively access, use and share information through the application of current and innovative information technologies.
In partnership with the CDC, PHII will host an in-person or virtual Immunization Information System (IIS) Leadership workshop, in the spring of 2023. This workshop will be attended by new IIS Managers and Immunization Program Leadership staff serving States and local jurisdictions. The workshop will help participants apply major IIS management concepts including data quality, interoperability, procurement, laws and policies, and the software development life cycle to advance their Immunization program’s goals.
The student will focus on assisting with all tasks related to planning, convening and hosting the in-person/virtual workshop as well assist with the creation of an evaluation report.
The student will learn about various concepts related to IIS and gain insight into other related topics such as project management, reviewing course content and course presentations, planning and prioritization, stakeholder engagement and communication.
This Leadership workshop is targeted towards new Immunization Information System [IIS] Managers and Immunization Program leaders across States and jurisdictions to help them effectively lead the development and use of IIS through planning and prioritization, stakeholder engagement and communication, and effective use of resources. The workshop also aims to enhance leadership skills along with technical and operational knowledge of participants.
The student will assist with all tasks related to planning, convening, hosting and evaluating the in-person/virtual workshop.
●     Student will review workshop courses and provide feedback on aspects such as structure, content, design etc.
●     Student will assist with successfully hosting the in-person or virtual IIS leadership workshop.
●     Student will help create a course evaluation plan that summarizes the effectiveness of this training based on a systematic approach.
