Data for Good Hackathon - HBCU Student Edition

The Data for Good hackathon gives you the chance to use your data analysis and coding skills to help a nonprofit organization further their mission.

This spring, JPMorgan Chase is hosting a hackathon welcoming students who attend Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) to gain insight into how JPMorgan Chase leverages Analytics and Data Science to drive innovation and serve our clients.

On Friday, April 21^st and Saturday, April 22^nd, participants will be placed on a team with other students from across the country to collaborate and analyze large, social good data sets and derive insights for a leading nonprofit organization. Participants will work side-by-side with JPMorgan Chase researchers and data scientists, learning from their experience as they creatively solve real world problems faced by social organizations. You Participants are encouraged to develop cutting-edge ideas that could make a difference in society.

In addition to networking with other aspiring data scientists from around the world, Data for Good is also a chance to meet our recruiting teams and experience what it's like to work in Analytics and Data Science at JPMorgan Chase.

Participants will need to bring their own laptops to the event. Travel expenses will be covered by JPMorgan Chase, though conditions will apply. Further details and instructions will be provided to successful applicants.

Participation in our Data for Good hackathon will lead to priority consideration for the 2024 AI/ML & Data Science opportunities. 

To be considered for AI/ML & Data Science opportunities, Data for Good participants will be required to participate in the standard hiring process, including the submission of a separate application for each program. Additional information, including application details, to be provided to Data for Good participants.

Data for Good Hackathon Details:

         + Location: JPMorgan Chase’s Jersey City, NJ Office
         + Event Date: Friday, April 21^st – Saturday, April 22^nd (overnight event)
         + Applications Close: Sunday, April 2^nd
         + Event Start Time: 1:00pm Eastern on Friday, April^ 21^st
         + Event End Time: 1:00pm Eastern on Saturday, April^ 22^nd
         + Eligibility: Data for Good is open to individuals who meet the below requirements:
              o Enrolled and in good standing in an undergraduate, MS, or PHD degree at a US institution
              o Pursuing a degree in a STEM field, such as, computer science, engineering, statistics, math, machine learning, data science, or other quantitative fields
              o Proficiency coding in at least one language required
              o Highly motivated and enjoy working collaboratively to develop innovative solutions to practical business problems
              o Exceptional interpersonal, communication, analytical and problem-solving skills
              o Authorization to work in the U.S.
              o Preference is given to students who are currently attending Historically Black Colleges and Universities or affiliated with a Diversity Organization
