Description of Duties:
The Division for Research is an innovative team of administrative professionals dedicated to the delivery of seamless service to our research community striving to increase UAlbany's visibility in, and resources for, advancing and disseminating knowledge, discovery, and scholarship.

The Human Resources Department in the Division for Research is seeking a highly qualified individual to fill the Payroll Specialist position. The ideal candidate will perform the following duties: Verify, calculate, input, process and monitor a large, complex, in-house payroll portfolio. Administer, maintain, and communicate the time, attendance and leave reporting system for hourly, nonexempt and exempt level employees. Review, analyze and verify payroll to detect and correct errors and to ensure accuracy of payroll and payroll data integrity. Maintain awareness of applicable policies, relevant computer system updates, and wage and tax law changes. Provide back-up coverage for front desk secretarial duties when necessary. Work on special projects as necessary.

Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma and a minimum of 3 years clerical experience
  • Strong communication skills
  • Thorough working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel
  • Demonstrated customer service, problem analysis, problem resolution, and time management skills
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail and maintain confidential information
  • Demonstrated experience with computer-based payroll systems
  • Applicant must address in their application the ability to work with culturally diverse populations
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associates degree from a college or university accredited by a U.S. Department of Education (DOE) or an internationally recognized accrediting organization
  • Payroll experience preferred
  • Oracle system experience

Additional Information:
Salary Range:  $46,000 - $51,000
