FOIA officers (Government Information Officers, 0306)
Responsible for performing a full range of duties relative to the implementation of the Agency’s Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), Privacy Act (PA) work involves implementing policies and procedures to manage Government information.
  • Degree in information management, library sciences, political science, international affairs, security studies, paralegal or relevant studies from an accredited institution or minimum of 1-3 years of relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of the Freedom of Information Act (5 U.S.C. § 552) and Privacy Act of 1974 (5 U.S.C. §552a), its procedural requirements and application of Privacy Act Exemptions.
  • Experience performing case analysis: conducting, identifying exemptions and applying redactions to official agency documents.
  • Researches problems and reviews issues related to requests, clarifies, and evaluates the need for additional information.
  • Understanding of records management and archive control theories, practices, and techniques.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills with the ability to interact with individuals at all organizational levels.
