Internship, Africa Studies, Summer 2023
Overview
CFR’s Blavatnik and Robina Franklin Williams internships give selected interns the opportunity to receive training in the area of foreign policy; as well as skills training in areas such as writing, research, and program planning.
The intern will work with the Africa studies team to assist with the goal of providing informed expert analysis for the policy and diplomatic communities.
CFR internships are paid, require a 14 - 18 hour commitment, and are filled on a rolling basis.
CFR’s summer internship program gives interns the opportunity to choose whether to work in our office in a hybrid capacity (half in the office, and half remote), or on an offsite fully remote basis.
The major responsibilities of this position will include (but are not limited to):
- Conducting research as requested by the research associate and/or fellow on a variety of topics related to Africa and the future of Africa
- Track developments in Africa
- Assist with writing and editing content for blogs, articles, and policy briefs, as necessary
Qualifications
- Undergraduate student, majoring in political science, African studies, international relations, U.S. Foreign Policy, public policy, or a related field
- All applicants should have completed the equivalent of four semesters of college coursework (not including AP classes in high school) by the time they begin an internship
- Prior internship experience, especially in nonprofit or think tank work, a plus
- Excellent research, writing, editing, and proofreading skills
- Proficiency in French and/or Swahili a plus
Pay Rate
$17.00 per hour
