Economic Affairs Intern

The Internship Program is open to undergraduate and graduate students. The goal of the Internship is to offer successful candidates an opportunity to improve their skills as well as the experience of doing research on issues of relevance to the economies of Latin America and the Caribbean.

Interns play an important role in assisting in the execution of the substantive work of the Office. Interns engage in economic analysis with a focus on trade, international finance, and development. Duties include research, collect and analyze data, create tables and graphs, draft reports, maintain databases, assist in document distribution, produce daily news clippings, participate in conferences and seminars, prepare briefing notes, and assist in administrative tasks.

Working with our staff, interns develop skills necessary for future career development and they are exposed to the work of the United Nations.

To be eligible for the Internship Program, candidates must be enrolled in an undergraduate (rising seniors) or graduate degree. The Program typically seeks candidates in the majors of economics, international trade and finance, development economics and related fields. Fluency in English is required, knowledge of Spanish is advantageous. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite also required.

This is an unpaid internship. Interns are responsible for their own living accommodations. Internship positions are a minimum twelve weeks in duration and a minimum of 35 hours per week.
