Research Data Analyst - NCI DCEG Integrative Tumor Epidemiology

Contractor Position 

The Integrative Tumor Epidemiology Branch (ITEB) of the NCI Division of Cancer Epidemiology and Genetics (DCEG) has an exciting opportunity for a junior data analyst position. The position will be ideally suited for a recent graduate from a Master’s in Public Health program with some quantitative analysis experience and an interest in molecular epidemiology studies with an emphasis on breast cancer in diverse populations including the Ghana Breast Health Study.  

The primary role of the junior data analyst will be to assist with epidemiology studies to investigate the etiology of breast cancer including potential novel risk factors. This is a critical position in our research team and offers outstanding opportunities for professional development, including working on high-impact research, gaining experience with data science tools and technologies, and learning novel statistical methodologies. Opportunities for contributing to research studies will be available within the Ghana Study and other studies in the DCEG.  

The contracted research data analyst will work under the direction of Jonine Figueroa, Senior Investigator and NIH Distinguished Scholar. 

Qualifications: Candidates must have a Master’s degree in information systems, biostatistics, epidemiology, applied math, computer science, biology or a related quantitative field. At least one year of professional experience is preferred but is not a requirement. Candidates must have experience managing databases and a highly organized approach to work. Experience in at least one statistical programming language (Stata, SAS or R) is required. Candidates should be able to demonstrate analytical skills and written and oral (English) communication, a scientific background, be well organized, have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse individuals and organizations, exhibit excellent problem-solving skills and multi-tasking ability, be team-oriented and have experience with producing deliverables under tight deadlines.
