This position is located in the U.S. Department of Transportation, Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), Office of Communications serving as a writer and editor providing writing and editorial skills and judgment to strategically develop and deliver messages for the media and the public.

As a Writer Editor, you will:

  • Write and edit speeches that articulate the vision and ideas of the Administrator and Deputy Administrator of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration.
  • Research and develop agency editorial and publishing policies and practices, including the AP writing style, for digital content, press releases, speeches, and other documents; and serve as the agency subject matter expert for regulations and policies relating to Government publications, publishing concepts and practices, and of recent advances in publishing technology.
  • Write, format, and edit the content of reports, publications, directives, newsletters, press releases, correspondence, position papers, articles for publication, and other information products.
