A Successful Counseling Program Manager:
Under the direction of the Managing Director of Special Education, the Counseling Program Manager will provide support to the instructional process with specific responsibility for managing the placement of assigned students; providing information and recommendations to parents and students; and assisting in the development of goals and plans for achievement of all students within the Alpha Public Schools network of schools. In addition to having a caseload of students that they work with, the Counseling Program Manager will also be responsible for management, development, and supervision of our Mental Health Counselors. The Counseling Program Manger will embrace and encourage the acceptance of diversity while using effective people skills to communicate. A successful candidate will have the ability to command respect and work with students in a positive manner. Finally, Alpha staff hold a deep belief that all students can succeed in college, and that it is the responsibility of staff to ensure that success.
The Counseling Program Manager is expected to:
Program Management
- Collaborate with the Managing Director of Special Education to build out Alpha’s mental health program
Staff Development
- Provide weekly individual and/or group supervision for Mental Health Counselors who possess their AMFT or APCC licenses and are working toward licensure, in accordance with all BBS policies and regulations
- Conduct trainings for Mental Health Counselors and school staff around supporting the social/emotional needs of students
Direct Services
- Manage and hold individual counseling sessions with a variety of students as necessary
- Collaborate with students’ IEP teams to write social/emotional present levels and to develop and track progress on counseling goals

You Possess…
- Masters in Counseling related field required
- Counseling License required
- 4+ years of professional experience
- Including at least 2 years of licensed experience to allow the candidate to supervise associates
