Social Media Intern

Academy Award-nominated director/producer Matia Karrell’s production company, The Red Door Films, is seeking a Social Media Intern for Summer 2023. Here you will have the opportunity to work with social media accounts that reach 3-5 million audiences, as well as learn how to harness the power of social media to successfully fund crowdfunding campaigns. This is essential to independent film and documentary film production. The Red Door Films has raised over $150,000 for its documentary on our first female military aviators of WWII using social media.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to drafting engaging social media posts for Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, and Facebook, designing graphics, researching possible topics, attending weekly meetings, communicating with our ambassadors and partners, researching social media accounts, analyzing statistics, etc. Social media interns will also learn how to run a successful crowdfunding campaign on social media.

This is an unpaid remote internship for school credit (if interested, we may consider you for the in-person opportunities in the LA area as well). Hours are flexible, but looking for a minimum commitment of 10 hours/week. The start dates are flexible, but interns are expected to start work in May and complete the training prior to their start date. Interns need their own computers or a computer they can use on a regular basis.

The Red Door Films, a busy production company with projects in post-production and development, is seeking interns to assist the producer and director in social media, communications, and promotional outreach. The Red Door Films is currently working on a documentary, Coming Home: Fight for a Legacy, about the Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASP), the first-ever feature-length documentary about often-forgotten women heroes of WWII.

This will give you a hands-on understanding of documentary filmmaking, editing, producing, and production management. Through this mentorship program, you will connect with women who want you to succeed and will guide you along the way. Seeking enthusiastic candidates with strong graphic skills who are highly organized, self-starters, and curious about all facets of the film production process.

If interested, please send resumes to production@thereddoorfilms.film with the header “Social Media Internship - The Red Door Films”. Thank you!
