Resident Director (Two Positions)

It is our pleasure to invite qualified applicants for the Resident Director position, reporting to our Assistant Director of Residential Life at the University of Southern Maine (USM). 

The Resident Director will play a key role in USM’s efforts to provide and maintain a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment for all members of the University of Southern Maine community by ensuring that our residence halls are safe, secure, clean environments which support the students’ pursuit of an educational degree as well as their growth and development. In accordance with this focus, the Resident Director will oversee the development and implementation of activities and programs that are responsive to students’ needs, develop community, and are conducive to the academic mission of the university. The Resident Director works in cooperation with other University departments to create a caring and purposeful living-learning community in the residence halls. The Resident Director provides leadership in creating a residence hall environment which fosters understanding, appreciation and celebration of diversity among residents and staff.
This is a full-time, 12-month position with a starting annual salary of $41,500. As USM is restricted to approved budgets and funding for its positions, we want to be transparent that this salary offering is non-negotiable.  This position is responsible for work on all three of the USM Campuses: Portland, Gorham, and occasionally Lewiston-Auburn. The assigned building and thus apartment for the Resident Director will be discussed during the application process and will depend on current openings on both our Gorham and Portland campuses.

Required Qualifications:
·      Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) or completion of degree by the time of appointment and minimum one-year previous residence hall or student affairs experience.
