Business Development Associate

About the Role

At BMNT, we bring together the most talented people to work on the toughest problems. Our Strategic Development team plays a pivotal role in growing the company and its impact. We do this by positioning BMNT as the partner of choice for public sector innovation, and by creating and carefully selecting the right opportunities to pursue. As a member of this team, you will be accountable for bringing BMNT’s unique capabilities to a much larger set of partners. We’re looking for someone who wants to help make the world a better, safer place, and someone who believes deeply in the BMNT way and their ability to take the company to the next level.

Location: This position is at our DC Office, 1201 Wilson Blvd Suite 27-117, Arlington VA 22209.
Currently we support hybrid work (in office and home) with the expectation of being in office three days / week. Occasional travel may be required.

NOTES: We are looking for local candidates or candidates that are relocating to the DC/VA area only. We can't provide a relocation package for this role at this time.

What You Will Be Doing (Responsibilities):
  • Support elements of the customer relationship such as participating in customer meetings, conducting discovery calls, creating documentation and briefing materials; and answering in-depth questions about BMNT services.
  • Provide on-going analytical support by reporting the forecasted pipeline, metrics and other key results to the leadership team.
  • Follow up on prospects to nurture leads that the leadership team (or other BMNT team members) source.
  • Assist in identifying business opportunities and source additional leads through networking, online research/branding (government databases and other sites), social media and conferences. This will need to be done without directly soliciting government customers.
  • Gather emerging requirements and market intelligence to assist with proposal strategies and proposal development.
  • Contribute ideas to the sales development strategy plan to acquire new customers.
  • Represent the company in a confident, knowledgeable, and credible way.
  • Conduct various types of research and data compilation related to both specific opportunities as well as markets as a whole.
  • Exhibit behaviors of success and respect as outlined in company policies.

We Are Looking For (Qualifications):
  • Excitement for BMNT’s mission!
  • Bachelor’s Degree or related military experience with at least three years of relevant professional experience.
  • Knowledge of Department of Defense or intelligence organizations and/or experience navigating new business with government run organizations is preferred. Demonstrated experience in business capture, proposal development, or sales operations is highly desired.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills for interacting with team members and customers.
  • Good sales instincts and the ability to perceive customers’ needs for BMNT services.
  • Strong organizational skills with a passion for great follow up and using technological tools to stay organized.
  • Ability to use a broad range of resources, to include LinkedIn and other social media, to identify potential new customers.
  • A self-starter with an obsession for outcomes, not activities, and a history of achievements.
  • The ability to provide — in written and verbal form — valuable, succinct, and actionable insights from complicated information.
  • Ability to travel if needed to attend customer meetings or conferences as well as travel flexibility to respond to rapid adjustments in the priority of work assignments to meet proposal schedule demands is required.
  • Humility and a commitment to self-improvement and self-awareness, including proactively seeking and welcoming constructive feedback from colleagues.
  • Curiosity and an always-be-learning attitude, including recognizing when help is needed and seeking new ideas or perspectives to accomplish an objective.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to manage and prioritize many concurrent tasks.
  • The patience and creativity to overcome barriers to success.
  • U.S. citizenship is required.

Compensation offered will be determined by factors such as location, level, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
