The City of Chicago Office of Inspector General (OIG) is one of the nation’s premier, independent municipal oversight bodies with statutory responsibility to identify and prevent misconduct, waste, and inefficiency in City operations.
 
Under direction of the Inspector General, the Chief Administrative Officer is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the OIG, specifically with respect to personnel and human resources, finance and budgeting, facilities, and procurement.  
 
DUTIES:
 
·        Manages staff engaged in various administrative support functions. These include budget and finance, procurement, facilities management, and human resources, which includes recruitment and hiring plans, position classification, payroll administration and personnel records.
·        In conjunction with OIG’s senior staff, develops and manages refining office-wide performance management tools, including annual staff performance evaluations.
·        Oversees OIG’s training and professional development programs.
·        Manages the planning, development, and submission of OIG’s annual budget; works closely with involved City departments.  
·        Oversees the maintenance of accounting and financial records and reviews expenditure reports.
·        Manages the contracting and procurement process for the purchase of goods and services to support OIG operations.
·        Ensures proper maintenance of OIG offices and common spaces, working with contractors and relevant City departments as necessary.
·        Coordinates space or capital improvement projects with city departments or property management, as needed.
·        Provides guidance to the Inspector General and OIG’s senior staff on budget planning, personnel management, training administration, etc.
·        Assists in drafting and revising policies and procedures in compliance with departmental goals and City rules and regulations.
·        Performs related duties as required.
 
Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:  Comprehensive knowledge of:

·        Principles and practices of talent management, selection, training, compensation and benefits, labor relations, human resources information systems and records management.
·        Management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, and coordination of people and resources.
 
Minimum Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration or a related field supplemented by five years of progressively responsible managerial experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

ANNUAL SALARY:  $131,472 up to $143,808, commensurate with experience.
