Position Summary 
WWF, one of the world’s leading conservation organizations, seeks a Travel Content Marketing Graduate Intern at our Washington, DC office, however other remote locations within the US will be considered. This position plays a role on the Travel Team, incorporating very technical, analytical, and creative skills and bringing a new perspective in the content marketing space. The intern is responsible for supporting the implementation of scheduled blog posts, social media posts, e-newsletters, emails, and data analytics. The position also plays a supporting role in creating content and resources for Natural Habitat Adventures’ guides to share on trips. Through this role, the intern will be interacting primarily with the WWF Travel team but collaborating with the Natural Habitat Adventures’ marketing team and WWF communications groups. 


Internship Description: 
  • Compose and publish 1 - 2 blog posts per week on topics related to WWF’s work in the destinations we visit, the intersection of travel and conservation, and ways our readers can lead more sustainable lives at home and while traveling (zero waste initiatives, food choices, transportation choices, etc.) and source images/videos to support the blog posts. 
  • Post on WWF Travel’s Facebook platform through creating engaging quizzes, top ten lists, polls, trivia, and blog post teasers. 
  • Work with WWF’s internal marketing department and travel team to create one print story and ad for the quarterly magazine, and monthly e-newsletters.  
  • Collaborate across teams and platforms to test new strategies and report results, key learnings, new initiatives, etc. 
  • Analyze industry and competitive best practices to increase the team’s overall performance. 
  • Create content and resources for Natural Habitat Adventures’ guides to share on trips. 


Minimum Requirements:  
  • Must be an actively enrolled student and not received degree at time of internship start date. 
  • Pursuing a non-doctoral Graduate program in communications, media, marketing, tourism, or related subject is preferred. Those studying outside these areas are still highly encouraged to apply. 
  • Ability to multi-task projects, excellent attention to detail and a self-starter. 
  • Excellent written and spoken English – other languages an advantage. 
  • Ability to work as part of a team with a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. 
  • Interest in conservation, tourism, and environmental issues.

Preferred Qualifications:  
  • Living in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area for the summer. 
  • Advanced Microsoft Office Suite skills, exposure to Adobe Photoshop. 
  • At least one-year relevant professional experience. Event management, marketing or travel industry experience is desirable and preferred.  
Learning Outcomes 
  • Assist in creating and implementing an annual content marketing plan.  
  • Understand data analytics regarding search engine optimization (SEO) and digital marketing.  
  • Understand how to incorporate sustainability into travel and other industries.  
  • Understand workplace culture in a large Washington, DC NGO. 
WWF interns will be provided a set of professional development opportunities, aimed at increasing their exposure to conservation and sustainability careers. This includes: 
  • Development discussions with their manager; 
  • Up to two online courses through Cornell University’s eCornell program; 
  • Speed mentoring with different WWF teams; 
  • Opportunity to present their work to intern peers and WWF staff; 
  • Session on resume and interviewing best practices. 
Interns will also have access to an array of networking opportunities. This includes meetings with WWF’s CEO, the senior management team, Employee Resource Groups, and representatives from other departments.  
US-DC-Washington or US-Remote: WWF employs interns in all states with the exception of: Alabama, Hawaii, Idaho, Kentucky, Louisiana, Nevada, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Wyoming. 
Paid - $21 per hour (full-time, 35 hours per week) 
Internship Dates: 
Internship will run from June 5, 2023 to August 11, 2023
