Purpose of the Position
The PC and Network Support technician is responsible for providing timely and professional support of PCs, laptops, printers, phones, and applications such as Office 365 in a service desk environment. The primary work location is 1 Ashburton Place, Boston (next to the State House). Occasional travel to other locations in Boston, Chelsea, and Springfield is required. 

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Respond to service inquiries from Treasury employees for technical assistance regarding PCs, laptops, mobile devices, phones, and applications used by the Treasury, including Office 365, Outlook, Windows 10 and 11.
  • Complete service tickets within standard timeframes and record pertinent information in the help desk including steps taken to resolve technical problems.
  • Provide excellent customer service by understanding each issue, determining the cause of the issue, expediting the best solution, and following up as needed.
  • Configure and deploy new PCs, laptops, printers, phones, and other end user equipment.
  • Perform periodic and as necessary upgrades and reconfiguration of devices and software, including user moves.
  • Maintain IT inventory database and perform inventory audits.
  • Utilize software tools to manage computers including remote management, patching and anti-virus updates.
 
Required Knowledge and Skills:
  • Some college or continuing education preferred.
  • 1-2 years of previous help desk experience preferred.
  • Understanding of general IT concepts and a passion for technology.
  • Proficiency with Windows 10 and 11 and knowledge of Windows configuration.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Knowledge of basic networking.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in both a team environment and as an individual contributor.
  • Must be self-motivated with the ability to work with little direction.
  • Must be detail-oriented and organized, with solid time management skills and the ability to take ownership of tasks and follow them through to completion
