Biological Science Technician

Summary
This position is located in Agricultural Research Service, SE Fruit and Tree Nut Research Laboratory, Southeast Area, Bryon, Georgia.

In this position you will meet agriculture sector needs for a stone fruit scion, rootstock cultivars, production, management strategies, and protection of pecan and stone fruit crops.


Duties
  • Collects, prepares, evaluates, and verifies samples and supporting records.
  • Maintains records or locating and compiling data and other information from various sources.
  • Contributes ideas towards the planning and sequencing of the technical aspects of the research.
  • Independently develops or designs various aspects of research projects on the basis of overall objectives.

  • You must be a US Citizen or US National.
  • Males born after 12/31/1959 must be Selective Service registered or exempt.
  • Subject to satisfactory adjudication of background investigation and/or fingerprint check.
  • Successful completion of one-year probationary period, unless previously served.

Qualifications
Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement including specialized experience and/or education, as defined below.

GS-7: One full year of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's or equivalent graduate degree, if directly related. Related degrees may include microbiology, horticulture, or entomology.

GS-8: Two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's or equivalent graduate degree, if directly related. Related degrees may include microbiology, horticulture, or entomology.

GS-9: Two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's or equivalent graduate degree, if directly related. Related degrees may include microbiology, horticulture, or entomology.
