Director of Academic Assessment – Online/Remote

POSITION SUMMARY

The Director of Academic Assessment (DAA) is responsible for leading, developing, and managing effective student learning outcomes assessment at the course, program, and institutional levels. The DAA works closely with academic leaders to implement standards-based, outcome-focused assessments demonstrating the extent to which students have achieved expected learning outcomes. The director also facilitates the use of data to develop and implement effective continuous academic program improvement strategies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Student Learning Outcomes Assessment (60%)
•           Collaborate with academic leadership (deans, assistant deans, program directors) and faculty to plan and execute effective assessment activities to evaluate student achievement of learning outcomes.
•           Support academic and program leadership in the design and management of course and program-level assessment plans. Review assessment plans and provide feedback regarding quality and completeness.
•           Collect, aggregate, and analyze data for program and course assessment.
•           Coordinate longitudinal tracking for program improvement efforts, measuring outcomes after changes have been implemented to determine impact/effectiveness.
•           Present assessment results to stakeholders and provide recommendations for continuous improvement.
•           Work with academic leadership and faculty to develop, update, and maintain curriculum maps that align program and institutional-level learning outcomes to curricula.
•           Provide consultations to support curricular development/revision to facilitate curricular, programmatic, and institutional improvement.

Professional Development (15%)
•           Develop professional development materials regarding best practices for assessment of student learning, including assessment tools (rubrics, checklists, observation forms, rating scales) and course design.
•           Deliver professional development regarding best practices for assessment of student learning, including assessment tools (rubrics, checklists, observation forms, rating scales) and course design.
•           Continually research, identify, and apply industry best practices in testing, measurement, and assessment of student learning.

Course Evaluations (15%)
•           Serve as the administrator for the university course evaluation system.
•           Collaborate with academic leadership and faculty to develop, administer, and manage course evaluations.
•           Develop quarterly response rate reports and appraise stakeholders of results.

Accreditation and Reporting (5%)
•           Develop narratives and provide data for assessment-related sections as needed to support institutional reporting and accreditation requirements.
•           Monitor relevant accreditation standards for compliance.

Other (5%)
•           Serve on or lead committees or workgroups as assigned.
•           Assume such other duties as assigned by supervisor.


POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Training
Master’s degree in education or related discipline required; Doctoral degree in education or related discipline preferred.

Experience
Required
·       3 years’ college/university experience in academic assessment
·       Experience developing and delivering professional development and/or training related to assessment
·       Relevant experience drafting narrative for accreditation reports and developing supporting evidence.
Experience working with online programs
 
Preferred
·       5 years’ college/university experience in academic assessment
·       Experience working with institutional and/or professional accreditation agencies
·       Teaching experience in higher education, online, hybrid and/or face-to-face
