Forensic Nurse (40 Hour)


The State of Connecticut, Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS) is seeking a qualified and experienced Forensic Nurse to join our team at Whiting Forensic Hospital (WFH).  

POSITION HIGHLIGHTS:
  • Unit: Whiting Max Services, Unit 4
  • Work Schedule: Full-Time (40 Hours), Second shift (2:45 p.m. - 11:15 p.m.), Every other weekend and holiday
  • Week One OFF: Friday & Tuesday
  • Week Two OFF: Saturday & Sunday

Please Note: This is a Hazardous Duty position. Working overtime is a requirement for this position.

IN ADDITION TO THE BASE ANNUAL SALARY, YOU MAY BE APPROVED FOR AN ADDITIONAL COMPENSATION BONUS:
  • Each Registered Nurse who is permanently assigned to the second or third shift shall receive a “recruitment and retention” yearly bonus of three thousand dollars ($3,000.00). 
  • In order to be eligible for this bonus, the Employee must have completed one year of service in the registered nurse classification.

WFH specializes in providing inpatient services to individuals involved in the criminal justice system or are not yet ready to be safely treated in less restrictive settings. Services are provided to individuals who are admitted via Psychiatric Security Review Board (PSRB) commitment, criminal court order for restoration of competency to stand trial, civil commitment or transfer from the Department of Correction. Discharge options are dependent on legal status and the purpose of admission. The hospital consists of 91 maximum security beds and 138 enhanced security beds. Employees of WFH are defined as hazardous duty.
