Role description and opportunities
BNY Mellon is a global leading provider of Securities Services and Digital (SSD) solutions across the lifecycle of an asset. SSD, the company’s largest division, is comprised of three distinct businesses - Asset Servicing, Corporate Trust and Depositary Receipts as well as Digital. The business is also at the forefront of collaborating and investing in the development of new technologies and digital solutions to scale our securities servicing businesses and to drive profitable growth.
The Vice President, Communications for Securities Services & Digital (SS&D) will work as a key partner to the business, its executive team and marketing to support external and internal communications efforts. Key responsibilities of the role will be to conceptualize and implement strategic, integrated, and proactive communications programs that enhance and protect SS&D’s reputation externally and internally, support key growth initiatives and strengthen the profile of the Securities Services franchise in support of the overall BNY Mellon brand. This role will report into the Head of Communications for Securities Services & Digital and Market & Wealth Services.
Key responsibilities include the following
  • Serve as communications support to multiple business leaders, various senior executives in executing the overall business communications strategy
  • Lead the development of proactive, creative strategies, external and internal communications programs and tactics to promote key business initiatives and leadership
  • Maintain/build relationships with top tier financial and technology press and key media outlets, in collaboration with the PR agency
  • Create, implement and drive social media strategies for key business leaders
  • Write and edit press releases and other external and internal communications materials including talking points, press statements, award submissions, pitches, interview briefings, and colleague memos
  • Develop, maintain and foster relationships at all levels internally including senior level executives, peers, and across various segments and geographies of the organization, including but not limited to partners in Legal, Compliance, Finance, Sustainability and Government Affairs;
  • Maintain a passion for protecting and enhancing the reputation of our firm.
A successful candidate should ideally have these qualifications
  • Minimum 6+ years of professional experience in communications/PR;
  • Demonstrated track record of excellence in executing communications strategies for a large, global B2B firm either in-house or agency – financial services preferred, but not required
  • Strong writing and editing skills is a must
  • Creative mindset and ability to generate innovative ideas to create surround sound for the business
  • A team player with a track record of success delivering high-quality work in a fast paced, dynamic environment;
  • Experienced in working in a highly matrixed, highly regulated environment, with the ability to manage a high volume of stakeholder feedback
  • Bachelor's degree or the equivalent combination of work experience required
