Job Summary/Basic Function:
Teachers College is grateful to have an important community of friends, parents and alumni who are highly engaged and extremely committed to the mission. They enjoy sharing their own lives’ most valuable lessons and wish to advance the Teacher’s College mission well into the future by joining a community of donors who make philanthropic gifts that have a collective impact on society both during their lifetime and by including the College in their estate plans.

Reporting to the Executive Director, Philanthropic Giving, the Associate Director, Philanthropic Giving, is responsible for retaining existing revenue and donors, sustaining a pipeline of future donors from across all private constituent types, and offering donors opportunities to give through Teachers College to make a smarter, healthier and more equitable world. A dynamic front-line fundraiser, the Associate Director will help drive revenue growth through the strategic management of a a major gifts portfolio. With a focus on major gifts, the Associate Director will serve as a relationship manager throughout the donor lifecycle to qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward five and six-figure gifts.

The Associate Director will be a highly motivated and entrepreneurial professional who excels at relationship building and devising prospecting strategies for their portfolio. A collaborative and strategic thinker, the Associate Director will work closely with the Executive Director and with leaders across the College to ensure the College has sustainable resources to realize its mission. The Associate Director also will collaborate across the Institutional Advancement team to secure proposals, donor engagement communications and touch points, and stewardship reports.

Minimum Qualifications:

• At least five to seven years of progressive nonprofit fundraising experience with demonstrated expertise in individual giving, especially closing five and six -figure gifts.

• Experience working in higher education.

• Work successfully in a complex, fast-paced organization serving multiple stakeholders.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as an overall ability to be clear and concise in all communications.

• Strong organizational and time-management skills; proven ability to prioritize and deliver on time.

• Ability to thrive in a remote and both, independent and in a dynamic, cross-functional team structure.

• Must possess a growth and entrepreneurial mindset.

• Ability to manage and work through change in a proactive and positive manner.

• Have a can-do attitude with a flexible disposition to respond to fast-paced, shifting priorities.

• Experience using databases required; technology expertise is important.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree

• Advanced degrees and/or related certifications

Salary Range:
$90,000-$110,000

The salary range reflects the College’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the compensation for the position at the time of the job posting. Salary decisions are dependent on several factors including but not limited to market and organizational considerations, experience, and qualifications of a selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
