Research Technician - Biology

Brandeis University is delighted to announce a career opportunity as Research Tech in the Kadener Lab. The lab studies the importance of RNA metabolism in the brain, mainly using Drosophila as a model organism. More specifically we study the role of circular RNAs (circRNAs) for brain function and behavior as well as general aspects of circadian rhythms. For doing so, we utilize a large array of molecular, genetic and genomic techniques and approaches. 
The candidate will be involved in both lab management and research activities, using a wide range of techniques including molecular, computational, biochemical, and cell-based approaches. He/she will be expected to work independently with mentorship by a senior researcher in the lab, participate in lab meeting presentations, and be involved in collecting data for publications (with authorship if appropriate). Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills are essential.
Job Responsibilities:

  • Assists lab members with experiments and maintains general lab organization - 40%
  • Sets up new genomic, molecular and genomic approaches in the lab - 25%
  • Orders lab supplies, communicates with vendors, and maintains lab equipment - 15%
  • Manages lab safety (chemical, biosafety, radiation) - 10%
  • Prepares common laboratory solutions - 10%
Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Biology or related field 
  • 1-3 years of related work experience preferred
