Job Summary
Working closely with TBE’s Communications team, the Communications & Marketing Associate
is responsible for proposing and producing professional, creative, and informative content that aligns with and supports Temple Beth Elohim’s mission, vision, and values and elevates the community’s Jewish experience through multi-media engagement.
General Responsibilities
- Support communications for clergy, adult learning, youth programs, tikkun olam, caring connections, development, and general community
- Create email communications in Constant Contact by designing templates, compiling content, reviewing & editing emails
- Provide writing and editing assistance to leadership, including clergy, TBE president, committee leaders, and administration
- Assist Content Creator with designing promotional materials, including flyers, posters, building signage, brochures, handbooks, and more
- Participate in big-picture analysis to help ensure our communications best enable the community to engage in the way that’s most meaningful to them
- Collaborate with VP of Communications
- Edit Bulletin and other widely distributed documents as needed
- Support Communications Manager with daily responsibilities
- Quickly adapt to ever-changing needs of congregation, creating new messaging in emails, social media, website and more
- Maintain high standards of quality and timeliness

- Represent the core values of the temple in all work performed on behalf of the temple and in all activities related to temple life by demonstrating an excellent work ethic, personal integrity, confidentiality, professional maturity, and thoughtful ambassadorship.
Website & Calendar
- Manage website updates, edits, and enhancements; manage our website’s blog
- Support & maintain our website calendar
- Review web pages to make sure information is current and correct
- Collaborate with leaders to understand their needs, then design & build web presence for new programs and initiatives
Social media
- Grow our social media following & engagement by creating and curating content for Facebook and Instagram
- Collaborate with Content Creator on video concepts; provide feedback for edits; help manage video production timelines
Administrative Responsibilities
- Help manage a calendar of Constant Contact emails to streamline communications
- Provide individual communications support and training for administrators in other departments
- Provide administrative support for Zoom classes & programs when needed
Skills and Qualifications
- Background in Jewish studies
- Strong writing skills, with an ability to match and develop the organization’s voice across platforms
- Strong editing skills and attention to detail in reviewing both text and design
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a high degree of professionalism
- Organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated team player with strong problem-solving, critical thinking, verbal and written communication, leadership, and customer service skills
- Ability to balance and delegate multiple priorities and projects efficiently and effectively
- Willingness to take initiative and embrace change
- Eye for design, ability to follow a style guide, and writing/editing skills
- Familiarity with WordPress, Canva, or other design tools
- Demonstrated strong technology skills with the ability to learn new environments
- Proficiency reading Hebrew preferred but not required
- BA/BS preferred
- 1-3 years experience
