School Age & Day Camp Director


POSITION SUMMARY:

The School Age / Day Camp Director is responsible for overseeing the daily operation and long-term planning of the Clark Memorial YMCA’s After School program and Summer Day Camp while promoting the values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility. Director will be responsible for program supervision, development and growth, with a strong emphasis on safety and program quality. 


Qualifications

To meet licensing requirements, the School Age / Day Camp Director must meet the following options to be qualified:
· Must be at least 21 years old and
· Must meet one of the following:
o Have a Bachelor's Degree in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Child Guidance, Human Services, Nursing, Psychology, Physical Education, Recreation, Child Psychology, the Arts, Social Work, Sociology, or Child Care; and 6 months of experience working with school age children.
o Have a Bachelor's Degree in any field or an Associate's Degree in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Child Guidance, Human Services, Nursing, Psychology, Physical Education, Recreation, Child Psychology, the Arts, Social Work, Sociology, or Child Care and have nine months of experience working with school age children.
· Minimum of 1 year of direct care experience and 2 years of administrative experience in licensed child care preferred.
· CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications.
· Ability to direct school age programs through supervision on staff, development and monitoring of budgets, marketing, program development, and fundraising.
· Experience with school age curriculum development and implementation, with a strong emphasis on STEM programming.
· Experience with Quality Rating and Improvement System (QRIS) preferred.
· Ability to plan, organize and implement program activities.
· Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds.
· Ability to be flexible and willing to accommodate the needs of families
· Ability to provide for the physical and emotional needs of children
Essential Functions

Lead all areas of daily operations within After School and Summer Camp programs.
· Ensure all programs meet licensing regulations, while providing safe, enriching environment for all children.
· Develop and implements curriculum within the established guidelines.
· Drive program growth through evaluation and implementation, based on best practices and the needs of the youth and families in the community served.
· Maintain positive relationships and effective communication with parents, children, and staff. Models relationship building skills in all interactions.
· Recruit, hire, train, and evaluate staff.
· Establish annual departmental goals within context of Clark Memorial YMCA’s goals, vision, and strategic plan. Ensures goals are attained.
· Maintain program site and equipment.
· Maintain required program records.
· Attend and participate in program activities, staff meetings, and required staff training.
· Assist in YMCA fundraising and special events.
· Perform other duties as may be required by supervisors for the benefit of the program and organization

Holds staff accountable for high-quality results using a formal process to measure progress.
