Organization
The American Liver Foundation (ALF) is the nation's leading non-profit organization dedicated to liver health and disease prevention. ALF promotes education, advocacy, support services and research for the prevention, treatment and cure of liver disease.
Position
The American Liver Foundation (ALF) seeks an enthusiastic, personable, and detail-oriented intern to support and assist the Research Department in developing the ALF Research Program.
The Research Program Intern will support the ALF Research Program in strategic planning, implementation, and evaluation of research funding and other award efforts. The Research Program Intern will work directly with the ALF National Director, Research Program Management to ensure that all objectives and goals are achieved.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Assist with creating a listing of U.S. academic centers with active research programs on liver diseases
· Assist with creating a database of previous awardees and analyzing their published research and NIH funding to measure the impact of ALF Research Program
· Utilize ALF’s CRM, Julep, to enter research-relevant data and assist the Research Program in developing relationships and programming initiatives
· Assist in creating a gap analysis of liver research currently funded by NIH and other non-profit organizations to help define ALF research strategy
· Assist in management of all aspects of the grant awarding process
· Assist with customer service inquiries
· Perform other administrative duties as needed
Qualifications
· Excellent online research skills
· Ability to work in a virtual environment
· Strong written and oral communication skills
· Ability to meet deadlines, stay organized and manage several projects in a fast-paced environment
· Experience with Microsoft Office programs
· Attention to details, self-motivation, and reliability
· Knowledge of human biology or biomedical research is a plus
Education Requirements
Candidates should have obtained, or be in the process of obtaining, a Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in the field of Biology, Data Science, Public Service, Non-Profit Management, Social Work, Public Health Administration, Communications, Marketing, and/or related discipline.
Working Environment
This is a remote, work-from-home position with a set schedule. Schedule is flexible and will need to be proposed to and approved by the National Director, Research Program Management.

The American Liver Foundation offers a supportive, all-inclusive working environment where interns can learn new skills and enhance existing ones. Upon successful completion of this 12-week internship, the selected intern will receive a $500 stipend paid in a lump sum amount. This internship is an exciting opportunity to work with the nation’s largest patient advocacy and education organization for people living with liver disease, gain valuable non-profit and biomedical research knowledge, and contribute to an incredible cause. In addition, the selected intern will receive resume building experience, a letter of recommendation for future endeavors, and educational credit hours if approved by their academic institution.
