OHR Communities of Practice Lead or OHR Communities of Practice Consultant

The Training and Organizational Development Specialist position is located within the Human Resources Communities of Practice (HR CoP) team, which is part of the UW-Madison Office of Human Resources (OHR). This position reports to the Deputy Chief Human Resources Officer.

In this position, you will implement learning and provide ongoing support for the HR community at UW-Madison. Responsibilities include facilitating and coordinating collaborative design team structures to create, develop, and implement multi-modality learning opportunities (e.g., instructor-led, web-based, and self-paced training; facilitation of learning cohorts), as well as sustained communities of practice focused on emerging individual and organizational needs. This position will require strong collaboration and partnership with the campus HR community and central OHR functional areas.

In addition, in this position, you will:

- Exhibit a commitment to continuous quality improvement
- Manage all program materials and logistics before, during, and following learning events
- Promote respect and the practice of civility in the workplace
- Serve as project coordinator for HR CoP initiatives providing oversight and management of the HR CoP project portfolio elements as assigned

Responsibilities:

Responsible for the creation, coordination, delivery, and evaluation of institutional trainings and customized solutions. Recommends and develops curricular strategy, documentation, education and learning programs to support organizational policies, procedures, technologies, and strategies.
  • 10% Serves as an institutional consultative training resource and liaison
  • 5% Serves as a subject matter expert and institutional point of contact for leadership and employees to provide advice and create customized educational approaches
  • 25% Creates, maintains, and leads learning and organizational development programs for various institutional initiatives, strategies, and needs
  • 10% Develops content and prepares and updates specialized instructional materials and assessment tools to align with organizational objectives and strategy
  • 5% Assists with education of and documentation creation for policies, procedures, tutorials, guidance, and supplemental forms
  • 25% Facilitates professional development courses, activities, and/or programs and guides learning to align with existing curriculum
  • 10% Acts as a consultant for the HR community
  • 10% Facilitates creation and evolution of Communities of Practice for OHR Centers of Excellence

Education:

Preferred
Bachelor's Degree
in a field related (education, business) to the responsibilities of the position

Qualifications:

Required
- Experience assessing, designing, and delivering learning in a complex organization
- Experience with program evaluation to ensure learning objectives are met
- Ability to quickly learn and use new learning technology

Preferred
- Skilled in collaborating with individuals or groups to solve problems and develop solutions
- Knowledge of human resources
- Knowledge of project management and coordination strategies with an emphasis on group facilitation, problem solving, and root cause identification skills
- Strong analytic and decision-making abilities
- Knowledge of learning technologies, including computer software programs, presentation technology, and web-based systems (MS Office Suite, Zoom, WebEx, MS Teams, etc.)
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity in the workplace and organizational success and development

Work Type:

Full Time: 100%

This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.

Minimum $63,800 ANNUAL (12 months)

*We are recruiting for five positions: two renewable/ongoing and three terminal. The terminal positions are expected to be for two years in length, and have the possibility to be extended or converted to ongoing appointments based on need and/or funding.
