Facilities & Capital Project Internship

About the Role
As the Facilities and Capital Projects Intern, you will gain experience in the coordination, planning and construction process of asset renewal and capital improvement projects at The Huntington Library, Art Museum, and Botanical Gardens. This opportunity will provide exposure to a variety of stages in the asset renewal and capital projects process. 

During the internship, you will collaborate with outside vendors, design consultants and the different divisions within The Huntington to gain a deep understanding of the different stages that are required for a 
successful project.

Essential Duties

  • Assist with coordination of vendors, design consultants and between the different internal divisions.
  • Assist with managing project document flow, document control, progress photos, material procurement, project start-up/closeout, RFI & submittal processing.
  • Maintain open communication and professional working relationships with internal/external stakeholders.
  • Organize plan room complete with scanning project drawings, filing project documents, maintaining operation manuals, etc. 
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned.

Candidate Requirements and Experience

  • The successful candidate should be a high school graduate, preferably enrolled in a Community College or a University degree program in Architecture, Construction Management, Building Science, or an Engineering discipline. Prior related internships or work experience is beneficial, but not 
  • required. 
  • Ability to proactively engage, the ability to work well with others in a team atmosphere, shall be responsible, respectful, and professional at all times.
  • Strong and effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly organized, accurate and detailed-oriented.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite is required.
  • A valid Driver’s License is required.
