The Administrative Officer provides staff assistance and direction related to budget allocation and tracking services, property and equipment inventories, travel services, fleet management, procurement and supply acquisition in support of direct mission safety operations in support of the Regional Field Administrator and Administrative Services Manager.

As a Administrative Officer, you will:
  • Manage the Administrative support activity for the Office. Serves as the principal advice­ giver to the Supervisory Administrative Officer on developing and managing policies, procedures and plans affecting the overall administration of FMCSA.
  • Develop, initiate, and implement administrative policies and procedures for assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Provide advice, guidance, and assistance on the interpretation and application of a variety of standard operation procedures and/or instructions; participates in the development of strategic long-range planning for the Agency.
  • Direct and/or manage all executive administrative activities for FMCSA; ensures FMCSA subordinate organizations (i.e., Divisions, Service Centers, Staff Offices, etc.,) comply with all applicable policies and procedures.
  • Provide guidance and advice to agency staff and support personnel on a wide range of qualitative and/or quantitative methods for the assessment and improvement of complex management processes and systems..
  • Review and evaluate completed staff actions (memos, forms, reports, studies, fact sheets, information papers) for overall quality of the document, appropriate levels of coordination, consistency, logic, soundness of recommendations, and compliance with policy.
  • Provide advice and assistance to management in the administration of budget, procurement, contract administration, human resources procedures and requirements, and special studies/projects.

The ideal candidate should possess strong computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) and have a variety of administrative experience in monitoring an office budget, fielding telephone calls, and reviewing documents, reports and travel expense vouchers. The ideal candidate should possess excellent organizational abilities, have exceptional interpersonal skills, give attention to detail and have a highly developed customer service ethic. Additionally, the candidate should have experience monitoring an office budget and have knowledge of federal policies and regulations for travel, procurement, time keeping, inventory and records management.
