Summer 2023 (Remote & In-Person) Internships

Internships for the Summer semester will be hybrid in nature with a a combination of in-person and virtual participation. We welcome both interns who wish to work in person as well as those who prefer to work remotely.

Internship applications for Summer 2023 are now available for the Flickers’ Rhode Island International Film Festival (RIIFF). The Festival is seeking motivated, industrious, self-starting students who care about the community and want to be a part of the planning stages for New England’s largest film festival and its only Academy Award, BAFTA and Canadian Screen Award qualifier. Over the course of the Summer semester, students will be helping to lay the ground work in planning and preparation for the 2023 Flickers' Rhode Island International Film Festival. Work will include assisting with reviewing film entries, social media marketing, community outreach, and sponsorship development.

Festival internships are semester-based and available for the Summer Semester.

All internships with Flickers’ Rhode Island International Film Festival are unpaid. Flickers is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization that values furthering the education and work experience of its interns. Interns receive hands on experience in a number of capacities and play a pivotal role in assisting with the organization and execution of Flickers' Summer events. A minimum of 15-20 hours per week is expected, although time commitments vary depending on the department. Interns work closely with the Festival staff on timely and compelling projects, many with a current focus on marketing, event planning, educational programs, technical operations, design, film curation, and community outreach. Students gain exceptional first-hand experiences helping an innovative, dynamic Festival serve a burgeoning Capital City, the New England region, and a global community of filmmakers and content creators.

These internships are ideal for students majoring in Political Science, Business Administration, Communications, Film Studies, Film Production, Literary Arts, Advertising, Graphic Design, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, Photography, Hospitality, Computer Science, Web Programming, Accounting, Education, Psychology, Social Sciences, and other related fields. 

Applicants should have strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as research, word-processing, computer, and basic interviewing skills. Students can be assigned to areas related to their academic major or field of interest. Beyond this work, responsibilities may include assistance in a variety of projects, special events, and clerical functions when needed.
