Business Analyst Intern
VISTECH is seeking to fill an immediate opening for a full-time Business Analyst Intern. This paid internship will be based in our Hartford, CT office during the upcoming academic semester (i.e., August - December 2023). VISTECH is a Microsoft partner providing software solutions to a variety of industries.
Ideal candidates will be pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Management Information Systems, Business Administration, English, Liberal Arts & Sciences, Management, Communication, Psychology, Finance, Computer Science, or a related major, with an expected graduation in the next two years.
Responsibilities include assisting the junior and senior level business analysts in analyzing business processes, gathering requirements, and supporting the software development life cycle. The Business Analyst Intern will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful delivery of software solutions that meet business needs.
- Assist in gathering and documenting business requirements from stakeholders.
- Participate in analyzing business and technical processes to formulate and develop new and modified business information processing systems, such as production and inventory control systems, financial tracking systems, marketing, human resources systems, etc.
- Participate in identifying and suggesting improvements to existing work processes / products within work team
- Assist in creating and maintaining project documentation, including user stories, use cases, and process flows.
- Participate in requirement gathering sessions with the project team and clients
- Assist in documenting requirements based on requirement gathering sessions that address the desired functionality described by the client
- Create system test cases that test all scenarios related to the business requirements
- Conducts system testing on applications to ensure implemented functionality meets the documented requirements
- Contribute to the completion of project tasks influencing the immediate work team
- Exercise judgment under significant supervision in a structured environment
- Manage technical difficulties, working with developers when necessary
We are looking for individuals that possess the following qualities:
- Minimal knowledge of computer system capabilities, business processes, software development life cycle, and workflow.
- Strong technical and analytical abilities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to generate clear documents that specify functional requirements of an IT project
- Solid PC skills with proficiency in MS Word, Excel and other standard Windows software
