Role Purpose
 
As a Consultant in our America’s group, you will play a key role in our growing Americas consulting practice, with involvement in all aspects of the consulting process, from shaping the opportunity, performing the analysis, and working closely with clients and Wood Mackenzie experts to develop insights that support critical strategic decisions. This role requires a high level of creative thinking and problem-solving abilities combined with strong interpersonal and teamwork skills. The candidate will frequently engage with and work alongside senior client teams and must be prepared for regular travel throughout the Americas region and, on occasion, globally.

Examples of recent projects our Consulting practice have engaged in include:
  • Working with a renewable power generation company part of a wider infrastructure fund to develop a growth strategy which is supported by the future trends in power markets.
  • Conducting an opportunity screening exercise for a large European infrastructure player considering an asset or company acquisition in the North America natural gas, NGL, hydrogen and CO2 midstream and storage industry
  • Evaluating a US hydrogen filling station business, understanding the hydrogen market dynamics, supply and environmental attributes requirements and financial evaluation of the business model to support a first-of-kind financing.
  • Identifying key industry trends and establishing strategic initiatives for a National Oil Company (NOC) to thrive through the upcoming Energy Transition
  • Advise a leading North American financial institution on financing opportunities in the Carbon Capture, Utilization and Sequestration (CCUS) space in North American and European markets.
 
Main Responsibilities (Serving our Clients)
 
As a Consultant at Wood Mackenzie, you will take ownership for the delivery of important parts of the assignment under coordination and supervision of your project manager:
  • Execute complex analysis of commodity or power markets and project economics, while leveraging our industry research and expertise
  • Build and present compelling presentations conveying key messages and recommendations concisely for a senior audience.
  • Collaborate and work cohesively with project teams under the guidance of a project manager/director.
  • Build and leverage a thorough and current understanding of energy markets and energy transition themes and be able to effectively discuss recent events and implications with clients and colleagues.
  • Contribute to the broader WoodMac consulting team’s goals and facilitate successful delivery of material to our clients.
 
About You
 
  • Coops/internships with relevant experience – management consulting; energy-related consulting; or a commercial, analytical, or technical role in the energy or natural resources sector
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant quantitative or science discipline such as business, economics, finance, statistics, or engineering. MBA or Master’s degree is a plus.
  • Exceptional analytical, problem solving, and time management skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Highly inquisitive, innovative, organized and detail oriented.

  • The ideal candidate will be expected to work in proximity of one our offices in which our Consulting group has a presence in (i.e., Houston or Boston)
  • The nature of this role precludes it from consideration for part-time or flexible working arrangements
