Program Specialist: SNAP-Ed Community Initiative

Under the management of the Office of Border Public Health (OBPH) Region 8 Manager and guidance of the Communicable Disease Program Manager, oversees the development, implementation, and evaluation of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program-Education (SNAP-Ed) Community Initiative in Health Service Region 8. Performs advanced (senior-level) consultative services and technical assistance work in the planning, development, implementation, evaluation, and funding associated with the SNAP-Ed Community Initiative, including establishing goals and objectives and developing and implementing effective techniques for evaluating the program. Provides team leadership and guidance to SNAP-Ed contract staff in the development and integration of new methods and procedures; identifies staff development and training requirements to meet program goals and objectives. Supports OBPH and SNAP-Ed program activities by tracking and analyzing expenditures; and maintaining an inventory of supplies and materials for program activities. Expands chronic disease prevention and management activities within DSHS Health Service Region 8. Works under minimal supervision, with extensive latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Must be able to independently travel throughout the State of Texas and out-of-state to complete essential job functions.
