Envision Athens - UGA VISTA Network

The Envision Athens AmeriCorps VISTA works with the organization's executive director and local organizations to develop and enhance partnerships that support key community priorities, including food security, housing, and access to opioid overdose medication. Envision Athens will focus this year on connecting non-profits to food rescue along with creating policy and programs to increase the amount of food that is distributed to school aged children in Athens during school breaks, such as holidays and summer breaks.  There may be additional goals set forth by the local agencies involved in food security for Athens.  The VISTA will support these goals by work with Envision Athens staff, local government, the school district, non-profits and individuals and will organize volunteers, support community meetings and panels, and other capacity-building service.
