Data Specialist

Position Summary:

Collect, clean, organize, and interpret data to assist agency with state reporting, CCBHC quality measures, and other agency data needs. This position supports agency efforts in improving healthcare outcomes, and providing data insights that contributes to continuous quality improvement processes. 

Responsibilities:

• In coordination with EHR and IT, assist in the development of reports and databases to monitor CCBHC quality measures, analyze the data and provide regular progress reporting. 

• Monitor the data integration of EHR data into state’s BHOLD reporting system, provide reports of data collection issues, and follow-up with corrective data entry. 

• Extract and organize data from EHR as per requests of Program management, and display data in a logical and concise manner. 

• Analyze raw and statistical data used in reports to determine accuracy. Investigate and resolve discrepancies as appropriate. Recommend methods to monitor update and assess quality of data available for reporting needs. 

• Consolidate statistical database information into visual presentations using various graphic programs and format, and present the technical information given the audience. 

• Collect, clean, and organize large datasets from multiple sources. 

• Perform data analysis using statistical methods and data mining techniques to help inform CQI activities. 

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and provide analytical support. 

• Develop procedures to enhance reporting and query capabilities to improve efficiency and accuracy and maintain documentation of data specifications used for reporting. 

• Conduct data quality assessments and implement data cleansing processes. 

• Design and model data extractions and provide comprehensive assessments of trends and data. 

• Participate in new initiatives and projects to optimize agency operations. 

• Actively participate in regular, reflective, and collaborative supervision. Be prepared with questions, concerns, and other related material prior to beginning each supervisory session. Share pertinent information with supervisor and team members regarding work progress, success, barriers, concerns and other areas that may have an impact on the Program or Agency. 

• Demonstrate continued sensitivity to and respect for differences in language, culture, socioeconomic status, gender identity, sexuality and individuality pertaining to clientele and colleagues. 

• Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills and Training Required:

• Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field such as Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or related fields, or combination of education with a minimum of 3 years’ experience as a data analyst, preference in a healthcare field. 

• Experience as a data analyst or similar role, including data manipulation, analysis, and visualization. 

• Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite. 

• Experience with Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, Microsoft Power BI 

• Ability to work with large datasets and complex data structures. 

• Must possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail. 

• Outstanding organizational and time management skills. 

• Ability to adapt and quickly learn electronic programs utilized across the agency. 

• Ability to communicate clearly, professionally, and effectively to convey complex findings to non-technical stakeholders. 

• Ability to work independently and effectively to solve problems. 

• Ability to participate as a member of a team.
