Finance and Budget Analyst

Opportunity Communities (OppCo) is hiring a full-time, primarily remote Finance and Budget Analyst - Affordable Housing, reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer. Overview:

OppCo is a non-profit member organization that provides locally-based non-profit community developers (CDCs) who are building vibrant neighborhoods with an opportunity to achieve the benefits of a larger-scale entity without losing local independence and control. By centralizing financial management and other administrative functions, and by sharing expertise in core programs central to the business of community developers (real estate, asset management, and resident services), OppCo members are better able to meet the need within their communities, to achieve deeper impacts in their core lines of business, and to ensure that change is equitable.

The Business Analyst is a newly created career track position in our quickly growing Finance team. You will be providing a variety of analysis and financial management support to OppCo’s CFO and senior leadership team, as well as the senior staffs of our member organizations and their Board of Directors. You will perform financial statement analysis, support the development and monitoring of the budget, assist with financial forecasting and modeling. You will gather and input data, analyze information, prepare and send reports, develop reporting tools, review data accuracy, and collaborate with business teams. The position requires strong organizational skills, proactive communication internally and externally, ability to meet deadlines, ability to build rapport with business teams, a strong penchant for accuracy, and financial analysis to succeed in meeting the diverse needs of the community-based nonprofit developers in the OppCo Network.  There is significant growth potential for the right individual.

Status: Full-Time (FLSA Exempt)

Location: Mostly remote, with ability to attend in person meetings a few times a month – Greater Boston

Responsibilities:

Providing essential analysis and reporting support to the CFO and senior team. This includes:

  • Proactively enhancing and maintaining complex revenue and cash forecast models.
  • Working with the Controller and CFO in the development of the annual budgets.
  • Quarterly work with CFO to reforecast the budget (tracking initial budget assumptions to actual results).
  • Expanding reporting capacity within Sage Intacct Accounting and Salesforce database systems.
  • Performing ad hoc financial data analysis to support lenders, grants, insurance, and budgets.
  • Overseeing investor and lender reporting and managing calendar of due dates.
  • Assist in implementation and integration of new back-end systems, including those of new member organizations.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Preparing financial and data reports for the Member organizations and Finance Committees.
  • Assisting with financial due diligence of new CDC members interested in joining the growing OppCo Network.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, public administration, urban-planning or a related field.
  • At least three years of financial analysis experience at a real estate development or non-profit organization. Other relevant experience and/or education will be considered in exchange for up to two of the three required years.
  • Highly proficient with spreadsheet software and excellent analytical skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills, with outstanding attention to detail and the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, follow-through and meet deadlines.
  • Pleasant, friendly nature with personable, cooperative attitude.
  • Openness to learning new skills and systems, with an entrepreneurial work ethic.
  • Desire to be part of a team in a mission-based organization.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Ability to work in a diverse environment, with a demonstrated ability to collaborate and communicate across differences.
  • Ability to work from home and willingness to come into office as needed for meetings and events.

Compensation:
