Development and Campaign Finance Intern

The Firm: Berger Hirschberg Strategies is Washington, DC and NYC’s premier Democratic political fundraising firm. Our clients include members of Congress, Senators, Governors, Mayors, Attorneys General and Non-Profit Organizations.

Founded by Stephanie Berger and Rachel Hirschberg – two of the nation’s leading strategists in the public policy arena today – Berger Hirschberg Strategies works with clients to develop the strategies they need to fundraise effectively and advocate for progressive causes and candidates. Our multi-tiered approach to securing financial capital has helped us generate remarkable success for our clients.

Whether we’re leveraging our longtime relationships to put clients in front of the donors they need, raising public awareness for the cause at hand, or helping individuals strategize about their own giving, we always keep our ultimate goal in mind: ensuring that the principles of the Democratic Party and other progressive movements are supported by the resources and strategies they need to effect change in the years to come.

This internship provides hands-on experience in the field of fundraising, and is a fantastic opportunity to train to be “hire ready” in the political fundraising industry.  The internship start/end date are flexible. This internship is UNPAID, but can be used for College Credit.

Duties include:

  • Researching and arranging meetings with donors and clients.
  • Database management in NGP VAN, Excel, and Google docs.
  • Event coordination: calling venues, writing and distributing invitations, and preparing briefings for clients.
  • Assistance with administrative tasks: filing documents, answering the phone, event prep, and keeping the office running smoothly.

Who we are looking for:

  • Candidates should be hard working, organized, work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel and databases are a plus.
  • Students who are interested in pursuing a career in politics or fundraising. You will be going to events with some of the most influential people in Washington so this is a great networking experience!
