Program Associate

OPPORTUNITY

The Program Associate provides technical and administrative support to Environmental Incentive’s implementation of work for clients and on internal initiatives. This position contributes to high-quality delivery of service to both internal and external clients, meeting facilitation, research and data analysis, and coordination and tracking of progress to support professional program operations and delivery of excellent client service. The Program Associate produces work scoped by one or multiple Team Leads, Directors, and clients using established EI processes. They are attuned to the needs of teams and their clients and collaborate with other Associates to identify process improvements and applications for technical innovations.

The successful candidate will be able to effectively communicate and collaborate with their EI colleagues to ensure high-quality and impactful products and services. They will also be able to quickly grasp complex coordination needs and set clear paths for team members. In all areas of work, the Associate represents excellent client service, models EI’s culture, and contributes to internal and external learning initiatives to advance EI's Purpose.

This position reports to a Team Lead or Project Director.  

ABOUT ENVIRONMENTAL INCENTIVES

Our clients trust us to design and support implementation of programs that (1) use evidence to develop effective strategies within complex systems, (2) center local stakeholder experiences and facilitate collective action, and (3) produce results that support learning about what works. Environmental Incentives is a certified B Corporation with offices located in Washington, DC, South Lake Tahoe, San Diego, Nairobi, and Lima (pending registration). Our remote staff and consultants are based in multiple states within the United States, and across five continents.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Support Delivery of Services to Clients

  • Supports the EI team in scoping, producing, and finalizing deliverables.
  • Prepares draft materials for submission to client, meeting EI quality and process expectations with appropriate guidance and autonomy.
  • Serves as a professional first point of contact on some client engagements around work products and meetings.
  • Provides technical support in collecting, synthesizing, managing, and reporting on program or project implementation, including quantitative and qualitative data.

Contributes to Communications and Events

  • Plans, helps generate and deliver content, and follows up client meetings, webinars, and events. Prepares meeting materials, such as agendas, handouts, and meeting reports.
  • Prepares communications products that summarize findings and knowledge for technical and non-technical audiences.

Program Management & Administration

  • Uses and helps strengthen established production processes, trackers, and internal workflow processes.
  • Provides administrative and technical support to the project team, including partner organizations and consultants.
  • Maintains excellent communication within and across teams to support smooth operations.
  • Models EI processes and culture for other staff, contributing to excellence across the team of Coordinators and Associates

QUALIFICATIONS 

Minimum Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree and 3+ years relevant experience; Master’s degree and 1 year of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience providing technical input to products and initiatives as a member of a team.
  • Demonstrated successful experience contributing to multiple projects and managing multiple priorities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with event planning, including meetings, webinars, and virtual meetings.
  • Experience supporting the facilitation of meetings, both in-person and virtual.
  • Experience creating communications products that share technical findings with non-technical audiences.
  • Experience with systems thinking approach to development.
  • Experience using quantitative analysis, statistical and mapping tools, online project workflows, and data displays.
  • Experience working in international development and across cultures.
  • Experience working on USAID projects.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to manage and contribute to website content, including blogs.
  • Advanced to expert knowledge of MS Office suite (particularly MS Word, Teams, PowerPoint, and Excel) and Google Suite (Gmail, Calendar Google Drive/File Stream, Sheets, Docs).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Strong process management skills and ability to produce quality products as scheduled.
  • Willingness to be available outside of regular office hours for client calls and other time-sensitive tasks.
  • Ability to collaborate with, listen to, respect, and celebrate the contributions of others, including others of different cultural backgrounds.
  • Problem-solving orientation and growth mindset.

Additional Requirements  

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States with no restrictions.
  • Criminal background check required.

BASE STATION AND COVID-19 POLICY 

This opportunity is a full-time position. The preferred location for this role is in Washington, D.C., however, exceptional remote candidates will be considered. Environmental Incentives is implementing a hybrid work model in which employees will be required to work in the office approximately two days per week.  

Proof of full vaccination against Covid-19 or legally authorized exemption is required for all Environmental Incentives employees working in the United States, regardless of office location or remote work. Selected candidates will be required to provide proof of full vaccination before beginning employment with Environmental Incentives. Full vaccination is defined as 2 weeks after the final dose of the requisite vaccination.

The starting salary range for this position is commensurate with experience and competitive against industry standards for similar positions.
