A Correctional Officer provides humane custodial care to individuals sent to the correctional facility by the Courts. Individuals in custody are either awaiting their day in court or serving their sentence imposed by the Court.  

A correctional officer must possess excellent written and spoken communication skills and an aptitude for problem-solving and mitigation of conflicts.   

We provide academy training that prepares you for a successful career in Corrections.  Training includes topics such as Constitutional and Criminal law, critical incident training, cultural diversity, defensive tactics, ethics and professionalism, First Responder / CPR, health and wellness, security and unit procedures, and stress management.  In addition, student officers are paid during the academy and receive 2 weeks of firearms training and 12 weeks of guided physical training.
