Summer Camp Counselor in New York

Camp Pontiac is a premier co-ed sleepaway camp located in Copake, NY. With approximately 500 boys and girls between the ages of 7 and 16, Camp Pontiac offers an unforgettable summer experience filled with adventure, learning, and lifelong friendships. Our staff hail from all over the world, creating a diverse and enriching environment for both campers and employees.


Job Responsibilities:

As a Summer Camp Counselor at Camp Pontiac, you will play a vital role in creating memorable experiences for our campers. Your responsibilities will include:


- Supervision and Participation: Spend the entire day with campers, accompanying them to and from different activities and actively participating in these activities. Live in a cabin with campers and other staff.


- Fostering Independence: Assist in fostering independence and personal growth among campers while providing a safe and supportive environment.


- Childcare and Well-Being: Look after the health and well-being of campers, ensuring their safety and happiness throughout their stay at Camp Pontiac.


Off-Duty Time: On a typical day, you will have one period off (out of four). During off periods, you'll have access to various facilities, including courts, fields, waterfront (with lifeguards available), Canteen, counselor lounge, ice cream parlor (when open), and the on-camp movie theater (when available).


Evening Duties: Staff are on duty and responsible for campers four nights per week. On the other three nights, staff are free to enjoy their evening on or off camp, adhering to the camp curfew each evening.


Days Off: Each staff member receives one day off per week during weeks 2 through 6, with the specific day off determined during Staff Orientation. You'll have the opportunity to explore nearby attractions such as New York City, Albany, Boston, Great Barrington, Massachusetts, Hudson, New York, and Lake George.
