What You Will Achieve
The BSAT Manager – High Containment Operations will oversee operations for the Biological Select Agent and Toxins (BSAT) program within Vaccine R&D located in Pearl River, NY. They will be the point of contact for external Federal Select Agent Program (FSAP) officials as necessary to support the continuation of the program. The incumbent will also ensure compliance with all BSAT regulations and standards involving BSL-3 and ABSL-3 research settings.
How You Will Achieve It
Serve as an Alternate Responsible Official (ARO) for the VRD BSAT program
Serve as an essential point-of-contact for FSAP representatives
Oversee and ensure full compliance with all BSAT regulations for VRD BSL-3/ABSL-3 labs
Oversee and maintain inventory tracking system for BSAT
Conduct required BSAT inventory audits
Ensure training compliance for all Security Risk Assessment (SRA) approved staff
Oversee submissions and approvals of FD 961 for SRA approval
Oversee all changes to BSAT Form 1 and Form 2 submissions and approvals
Work with Occupational Health staff for the maintenance of the Biological Suitability Assessment Program (BSAP)
Work with Security to maintain and up-to-date BSAT roster of staff or lab access
Serve as a voting member of the Biological Safety Committee
Work efficiently as part of a team in a matrixed environment
Qualifications
Must-Have
Bachelor's degree in relevant field (Biology, Molecular Biology, Immunology) with 5+ years of industry experience, Master's degree with 3+ years of industry experience, PhD with 0+ years of industry experience
At least 2 years relevant Select Agent laboratory experience
Experience working within a BSAT program (RO, ARO, PI, Researcher)
Demonstrated experience with laboratory safety preferred with an understanding of common challenges faced in high containment research environments
The candidate must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
Demonstrated ability to work independently and must be motivated, flexible, highly organized and willing to learn new skill sets
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications

Working knowledge and experience in a high containment laboratory setting
PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
Sitting, standing, walking, light lifting (<25 lbs.), ability to travel, drive.
NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS
Occasional travel may be required. Adherence to safe work practices and procedures required.
