The Summer Intern program at CooperSurgical provides college students with the opportunity to participate in meaningful projects that contribute to the overall business unit objectives. In addition to the assigned projects, Interns are given the opportunity to participate in activities that encourage networking with peers, managers, and employees.

For U.S. locations that require disclosure of compensation, the starting base pay for this role is between $18.00 and $24.00 per hour. The actual base pay includes many factors and is subject to change and modification in the future.

Responsibilities for Internal Candidates

As a member of the Communications team, you will support the team in its global internal communications initiatives. The internship provides valuable experience in several different communication areas and gives you the opportunity to learn from a professional team with diverse backgrounds and talents.

Essential Functions

  • Support the communication team, with daily communications tasks including managing content creation and distribution, employee engagement and employer branding initiatives, editorial calendars and analytics on media channels and event coordination.
  • Support global and local corporate social responsibility initiatives
  • Serve as a resource to coordinate internal and external resources, vendors, and stakeholders.

Scope

  • The Communications team is a newly formed function within CooperSurgical focused primarily on creating a platform to communicate with and engage our ~1,800 employees worldwide. The team also serves as a consultant to all other functions of the business on external communications, social media and crisis communications.

 

Qualifications for Internal Candidates

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Intermediate skill in the use of Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Advanced preferred.
  • Well organized with attention to detail and ability to carry out tasks independently.
  • Excellent project management, organizational and follow-through skill set
  • Must have strong oral and written communication skills and be able to confidently interact and present information to all levels of the organization, including senior leaders.
  • Must work collaboratively with strong interpersonal and relationship building skills
  • Professional demeanor

Experience        

  • Not required, but prior Internship experience is a plus.

Education

  • Current college student, majoring in communications, journalism or public relations (preferred but not required) entering their Junior or Senior year.
  • Completed course work and demonstrated interest in journalism, communications or public relations
