Position Summary

Part-Time Instructors are responsible for course delivery, in-person or in a remote learning environment, for courses offered in the Continuing Education department, comprised of Community Education and Tombolo Institute. In addition to delivering the course content, Instructors are expected to follow-through on administrative tasks, such as submitting course completion rosters, submitting course links, and verifying student completion of competencies as outlined in the course outcomes.

Pay, Benefits & Work Schedule

This opening is for a part-time temporary instructor, to teach 5-40 hour non-credit courses in the Continuing Education division. Remuneration for this assignment from $37.10/hr - $80.00/hr, depending on experience. Part-time instructors are typically assigned as needed on a quarterly basis, with no expectation of continued employment beyond the current appointment. Certain positions may also be eligible for assignment/project-based additional compensation, including a High Demand Stipend up to $8,350 annually, prorated based on the discipline and duration of the assignment. All additional compensations are subject to change depending on funding and negotiated agreement.

Essential Functions

• Teach non-credit Continuing Education courses as dictated by the program, course schedule, and enrollment demand.
• Support students in achieving course outcomes through the utilization of teaching techniques effective with non-traditional students, including adult learners.
• Review student work during and outside of class using assessment criteria provided by the Continuing Education division.

Minimum Qualifications

• At least two years of industry experience or prior instruction experience
• Experience delivering instruction to adult learners (may include internal corporate training)
• Ability to connect and build relationships with students and colleagues from varied ethnicities, ages, backgrounds, learning styles, and abilities
• Effective oral and written communication skills
