Summer Academy Comic Book Instructor

                                           Summer Academy Comic Book Instructor 

The Georgia Center for Continuing Education is seeking instructors with experience in STEAM subject areas to share their knowledge with students through the Summer Academy program. Summer Academy is a series of specialty camps for curious, motivated, and academically inclined middle and high school students. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic about teaching and willing to devote time and effort to facilitating a curriculum unique to the Summer Academy program. 

The mission of the Georgia Center for Continuing Education is to enrich the lives of learners and produce a lasting impact through outstanding educational programs and services. The camps we offer are designed to accomplish the following: 

• Expose students to new areas of study and career pathways 

• Present content that appropriately challenges students 

• Promote advanced thinking, creativity, and application skills 

• Engage students through meaningful, hands-on learning opportunities 

• Encourage collaboration and communication among students
 

DATES, HOURS OF WORK, STIPEND

This is a temporary position working approximately (30 hours/week). Instructors typically work 8:30 am- 3:30 pm during assigned weeks of camp. Weekly stipends start at $750/week. Instructors typically work 1-3 weeks of camp between June 3rd- July 26th (excluding the week of July 4th) Camps run M-F. 

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Academic professional, graduate student, or high school educator with the depth of knowledge and experience necessary to fulfill and communicate the objectives of the camp program

• Experience or knowledge in the technical aspects of comic book design such as penciling, inking, coloring, and lettering

• Experience working with and delivering content to middle and/or high school students.

• Confident in managing cross-departmental collaboration and coordination with organizations on and off campus

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS 

• Put forth full effort in all projects and assignments, prepared for instruction, and will follow all university policies and procedures.

• Demonstrate exceptional customer service skills through interactions with Summer Academy students and parents 

• Create and provide a detailed syllabus with accompanying learning objectives, materials, and instructions to the university

• Ability to work in a fast-paced, team environment
